The beer prices are standard at a "local" bar, but cheaper if you can get into a happy hour at one of the expat clubs in Gulshan.

Rockwells and Heroes tend to be the best but a lack of decent live music Heroes band is the best. Price of a beer is cheaper in Abu Dhabi and look out for the places with character. Casa Goa on hamdan street is great for a curry and cheapish beer (kingfisher) and has an interesting vibe about it. Monobenzone http://www.fairnglow.com/
