The Irish Pub great for ex pats and with sky tv showing sport all the time. All bar staff speak english. Good to show appreciation with a good tip. Food not bad either you can even have Fish and Chips. Last time I was in the place and I have been a few times draught guinness and Caffrey's were available. Take some old 50ps and play the real duke box.

Bottled beer ie Stella and Tuborg is about 70p for 500ml bottles, local lagers which are a lot cheaper can be found for as little as 20p for 400mls which seems the prefered amount for selling beer. Recommended local beer is Ursus, premium strenght and very palatable. All in all a very cheap place to drink beer.

Beer usually costs 5 RON (1.34 EUR or 2.11 $ at this time) or more per bottle in most bars One exception is The Jack (Grivitei Street Nr.55 ) with beer at 4 RON. It's the best Metal bar in town. Best beers around: Stela , Silva , Tuborg , Stejar.

in the stores most beer bottles (2 litres) are between 5 and 6 ron a.k.a. 1,55euro, My advice choose Bergenbier or Timisoreana but let the cheap Lowenbrau down DONT BUY THAT PEE! I went to couple of bars and Club A, club A ,0,5 litre is 4 ron a.k.a like 1,10euro

You can try all the bars from downtown. the prices are the same, arround 1.5 E. I recommend the local beer - it's great. I think that Romania can compeet with Chezh Republic regarding the quality of the beer.

In Cluj you can search for what I find to best Romanian beer, Harghita. One can find it several bars such as Corvinus (Memorandumului Street no 6), Bulgakov (Inocentiu Micu Klein Street) or Krakczar (near Casa Matei Corvin), these 3 locations being in the city centre. Noroc!

No Comment , been in London, paid !!! 5 GBP !!! for one freakin' beer.. Romanians may earn much less but they can get good quality beer for 10 times less (0.5 GBP for 0.5 liter bottled Ursus, can even get for 0.3 if it's draft...)

There are a lot of great beers to be had. The local brewery is Bermas. At one time it was absolute rubbish, but it now a reasonable session beer on draught (la halba). There are many continental beers brewed under licence, such as Carlsberg, Stella, Heineken etc.. I can only say that they aren't as good as when they were first brewed in Romania, but still decent beers for the price. As for local beers, you will often find Ciuc, Timisoreana and Ursus. The last two are now owned by Miller/SAB. My personal favourite is Ursus Rosu. This is not to be confused with Ursus Verde. Rosu has a red label, and Verde a green label. They taste better in a bottle rather than a can, as do most Romanian beers. They don't seem to have been conditioned properly for a can.

Bingo is a pool hall that has pints for 3 lei which is about 1.25USD. Also one clbu "Irish Pub" which is nothing like an irish pub its a club sells their pints for 5 lei...so you get the picture...
