Plenty of good domestic lager-type beers for 0.50 USD at local pubs. Club was the best and doesn't contain added sugars like most of the others.

Try 'FatBoyz' in the Kololo area. It's next door to 'Just Kickin' which is a sports bar. However beer is around 3000 Ugandan Shillings a bottle which is more like 80p (GBP).

Loved Mateos. The pub is in the centre of Kampala and close to all amenities. Beer goes for UGX3,000 approx US$1.5 for 500ML. So many local beers to choose from. Try the Tusker or Nile Gold. Good Malt lagers.
