In one of the Irish/British pubs, it costs 9.20CHF for a Pint. e.g. http://www.pickwick.ch/basel/bar.php When you convert 9.20CHF into GBP, it comes to £6.90 at the current exchange rate. Hence VERY expensive!!

There is also a bar in the centre of Geneva called Lord Jims which brews its own beer. It charges between 8.5 and 9.2 francs, roughly £5, for 500ml. Good beer though !

Rolled into the train station and stopped by the snack bar and got 12 ounce Feldschlossen for 3.75 swiss francs, thats about 3.55 USD. Stock up, they dont open them unless you ask.

The Great Escape (www.the-great.ch) has the best prices for beer in Lausanne with Heineken (much better than the nasty Cardinal lager) only sfr 7 a half liter. In addition you can watch live premier league games on large screen and there are two happy hours a day!

Beer nowhere near as outrageous in town as you might expect, but draft is dominated by p1ssy Carlsberg which goes flat unless you chug it. 6-7 CHF anywhere you go in town, so less than £5. On the mountain they charge up to 9 CHF fro a big can of Weissbier. What a joke. Cardinal pretty poor too.
