Don't know who or when this was written, but I was in Riga on 14th December 2007 and it was no where near this cheap. I visited around 10 bars, the cheapest was 1.80LVL and the most expensive 2.50LVL. 1LVL is around 95p - therefore the price of a pint is between £2.00 and £2.80. Certainly not as cheap as stated above!

It certainly is cheap. If you make an effort to speak Latvian and not act like a drunken lout you can get bear suprisingly cheap. It always ALWAYS only costs around £1 per beer

I visited 24th-26th December 2008 and was very surprised at the cost of everything, but this is due to the low rate of exchange for the GBP - we paid £1.40 for 1Lat. Ouch.

Tell us about the beer/ the city Very strong dark beer 6%vol cant remember the price but what a shit place,Russian Mafia everywhere hookers trying to rip you off,international banks(money laundering shops)on every corner,bullet proof limos all over the place and its not that cheap.If you want the Wild West with limos and gansters then by all means but you can count me out.We clapped when the plane took off.
