Barga
After having spent half of my life in Florence, nearly becoming an abstinent because of the beer prices there, I bought a house in Barga and found out that the beer is better and cheaper here than in Florence. For the moment: 1 pint of Hacker-Pschorr is 2.50 euros, same to Ayinger Kellerbier, Warsteiner and Krombacher. Turn & Taxis, as well as Fürstenberg, are 3.20 euros, but they're sold in more chiq premises and are, thus, more expensive. The beer landscape of Barga is quite assorted for a tiny center such as Barga (Lucca). But the barmen should know how to draft the juice the way it should be and... why shouldn't they have Veltins and Früh Kolsch, and Uehriger Altbier, tas well? Life would be much easier like that! :-)

Florence
Beer is ridiculously overpriced in Florence. London is cheap by comparison. The quality makes no difference, even bog standard Carlsberg from dodgy taps is expensive. Some of the more specialist places ("birrerie") have an interesting selection of imported German beers and quite a few pubs have Super T on tap. The only places with fair prices are the "Case del Popolo" or supermarkets.
Florence
If you go in the pubs in the tourist area you'll got poor beer for a lot of money. Find homebrewing houses instead: there's one in the San Frediano area where you spend 4-8 euros for a real great beer. I'm not sure 'bout the name but it might be Birreria Artigianale... try Googleing...
Florence
The price of beer is very high in Florence. Especially in the historic centre as taxes are very high to maintain the buildings, statues etc. Still however much it is, you can't beat sitting outside the duomo with a pint!

Milan
Too much expensive!! I live in Milan
Milan
Bars / Cafe's around the Duomo were charging 8 , and even 10 £/Euros for a medium beer - The Hotel (Adi Grand ) charged 7 euros for small (1/2 pint) beer. Obviously no credit crunch here. The super market over the road had large bottles for just 1.20 euros for itlaian beers and less than one euor for something called Hell beer . 23.3.09
Milan
That's the price for a pint of medium quality beers if taken as "aperitivo" (6-9 pm) in one of the many bars and clubs you can find in the "movida" areas of Milan (Navigli, Brera, Arco della Pace)

Venezia
Don't even bother drinking beer in Italy - it is so expensive, up to 7 euros for a pint an it's not even good. All you get is Peroni or Nastro Azzuro. Go to a supermarket and get some Tennent's Super instead.
VENICE
SQUARE SANT MARCO
venice
Bar beside the railway station.
Venice
Venice is not as expensive as most people tell you, it all depends where you drink. Yes if you buy a beer while you sit on St Marks square you will get totally ripped off and most tourists always seem to end up buying a beer there get a nasty shock. It's pretty simple JUST DONT BUY A BEER ON ST MARKS SQAURE just go into the city more, I've drank in afew bars around the city and its usually around 2.70 euros for a bottle Nastro, not the cheapest for a bottle of larger but won't skint you out, go up by the bridge of sighs by where all the tat shops are, good place to drink and cheaper than the rest of the city (Date: 19/05/2009)
