Great place.Olumpia was cheapest at 72.2p.Becketts was awful.goto the Kaledonia and take it from there. Paid about £3 down by the Danube,watch for the crafty service charges in touristy places

A bit away from the Pest city center, there's Nelson Pub on the Buda side on Bartok Bela Ut, just a short walk around the corner from the Gellert Hotel. It has a 0.5L of Pilsner Urquell for 480 Ft, which is as good as a deal as I've seen.

Szimplakert: pound, pound and a half and for good German beer. Beckett's is just not what comes to mind when I think about beer prices... Even if I think of a top of the range place, say the Belgian Beerhouse on Bem rakpart you can get lovely Belgian beer for 2 pounds or thereabouts.

2.50-couldn't find cheaper? Rubbish Beckets is the most expensive pub in town, full of self-satisfied expats that wopuld run amile from a real Irish pub. Try any of the little boozers off Bajsy Zsilinsky Utca-you'll pay 1 GBP a pint max.

Hey, this is not a place to review pubs, but as you were off-topic when said "prices at Beckett's are very reasonable", let me comment on that: on the contrary, it is bloody expensive, average food/service...If you want to drink a good German pint, go to Bajor Sorozo in Gyorskocsi utca. 1,8 Euros for locally brewed, fresh, not pasteurized lager/wheat/dark/ale!

In the underground outside the Ferencvaros ground - 290 for a pint of sorponi or soproni. Avoid beckets and go for small bars, they all sell the same brands anyway, loved the Borsodi one. also the pedestrian street Raday had lots of decent boozers but a bit more pricey

good beer, cheap cheap beer. Much better and much cheaper then U.S beer. A pint is around 1 euro or a little less. If you buy in supermarket a liter is around 1.2 euros, cheaper then a pint sometimes at a bar.

District 9, Raday Utca 35 - a little place called Claro Bisztro - a pint of Soproni costs 360 Forints. (£1.13 €1.32)

Raday utca 35, District IX cheap considering they have free WiFi. if you don't need wifi, walk down Ulloi ut in the opposite direction from the Metro to raday 35 and you'll find a place doing the stuff for about 250 Forint

Beckets is awful. We were staying on Akacfa Ut The OLd Man's Pub was close and apart from the £2.50 a pint had a good band on. There was a really chep "studenty" bar further along the street towards the Metro station where Arony was a bout 80p a bottle. Had some good sessions there!

The beer typically sold is Borsodi, soproni and arany aszok. But go for Dreher, and Szlaty bazszant. First one is Hungarian, second is the best common beer and is Slovakian. By the way all beer is per half a liter. Pints are not sold in Budapest.

Borsodi is THE Beer in Miskolc and in BAZ county. Very-very cool beer i think :) If you buy it in a supermarket you can get it for 0.65 EUR..

Got to "Szomjas Kaktusz" (Thirsty Cactus Bar).. Once I bought 1dl Black Absinthe (85%) and a pint "Borsodi" Beer there, and i found that a very friendly place with good "community".. Sorry for my english.. :P
