Guys, a pint is equal to 0.5 liters...a standard beer botle contains from 0.350 to 0.355 Lts...the prices given are not taken that fact in consideration

Great beer in Costa Rica! Love Bavaria Negra, but you should have an Imperial while you're there since that's the national beer. If you just ask for a cerveza, you'll get Imperial. A can or bottle is about 1,000 Colones or $1.

Imperial is the "National Beer," but there are three grades of another brand that is the best beer: Bavaria, and it comes in Plata, or Silver/Light, Gold/Oro, and Black/Negra(the best of the three). All beer brewed in Costa Rica comes from only one brewery, located just outside the capital, San Jose. Cost in a Super Market is just over a dollar a bottle at present (about $1.25, right now), and between two and three dollars in a bar.

Nosara/Garza/Samara
Most bars will have the "national" beer, Imperial for about a dollar a bottle or can. Another good option that actually has a bit higher alcohol content is Pilsen beer. If passing along the coastal route between Nosara and Samara, be sure to stop in at Pacifico Azul Bar in village of Garza. Grab a cold one, no need to tip Miguel (the owner who sleeps upstairs)and walk out the back to the beach. If the kitchen is open try the local fish specials, shrimp or steak dishes.

theres a wonderful bar down the coast somewhere where penguins, in tweed suits offer beer for ridiculous price...they often pay you.
