you are joking. i've just spent 2 weeks in buenos aires and was regularly getting 500ml quilmes beer for about 70p. it tastes great as well.

We paid 1 € for a bottle of 0,95l Quilmes and 1,10 € for the same amount of Isenbeck wich is even better than Quilmes on a terras on the Avenida 9 de Julio.

I just came from Argentina (I lived one street from main brewery) and I can tell you that beer is very good:P I don't like beer otherwise but Quilmes...mmm, I will go back soon:) About price I can't tell you anything because I never paid:) Regards from Slovenia:)

I've lived here for years and it is no longer possible to find a pint for $1.50 although it certainly was a few years ago. A pint of Stella will run you a bit more than the above quoted price for the local brew Quilmes. That said, great website!

Tell us about the beer/ the city February 2010 - With inflation kicking in there are still some good deals to be had. Aside from the bars that offer 2 for 1 Happy Hour in the city, though fewer and fewer these day, there are great deals. Alamo offer cheap beers served in huge plastic buckets, but you have to pay an entry fee everyday now. This is returned in bar credit. Casa Bar has by far the best imported beer selection priced reasonable, has 2 x 1 Happy Hour an serves 1/2 liters of Quilmes for 10 pesos regularly and 1 peso tequila shots everyday along with nightly specials on food and booze. Shamrock has 2 x 1 Happy Hour on select beers and drinks Monday through Friday and is probably the longest Happy Hour in the city. Best bet IMO is Casa Bar for service , selection, sports viewing and excellent bar food. These bars are in Recoleta. Next time I will post the best bets in Palermo.

I lived in Buenos Aires most of my life, with a brief gap in the Uk. I just wanted to inform that there's no pub or bar in this city with a pint at u$ 1.31. The cheapest you can get in a night out would be 10 or 12 pesos or just about u$ 3. Take care
